Received my kit today and immediately tried it out. It sparked very well and I had made fire fairly quickly, no success on my other tinder but within a few seconds with the charcloth – which is what I’d anticipated. Overall great product, overall satisfactory.The only negative I found is that the flint split really – really easily. I wasn’t striking very hard, and going at an angle that caused the most sparks with minimal effort and my flint just about halved in two in my hand. I actually ended up with a splinter in my thumb from it. The chunk that came off might be useable on it’s own, and the remaining part still functions albeit less comfortable to hold because of the reduced size. Not sure if this is something that will affect everyone, and being a natural resource it’s impossible to predict that this will happen.In spite of the splitting stone (again, natural material) I am still giving this product a 5 star review. It functions precisely as it is supposed to and the leather pouch (with belt loop!) is both functional and aesthetically pleasing. I would recommend this product and may go so far as to gift it to my outdoors-ey friends.
