It’s a bit early to say the longevity of this unit. I put it in service last week.This unit replaces a 10 year old unit.I have a lot of experience setting up these types of units so I didn’t have any difficulty setting up this one.I didn’t have to read the directions to do it. I normally am a direction reader.It is very easy to set up. I don’t think you need to be worried about that.If you run into an issue with no water flowing out of your sprinkler when you do a test run, check for kinks in the hose.Check for a clog of grass etc at a connection.1. make sure your water will run when you turn the spicket on. Connect each hose one at a time andmake sure water flows out the other end, then connect the next hose to it if needed. Or connect that end toyou sprinkler. You may have to put fresh gaskets in your hose connections. If I have a new gasket in a connection that still leaks, I use a set of pliers to tighten the connections.. Recall the old Submarine movies on how those boys stopped connection leaks. The Tightened them.Don’t hook you first hose to the unit until you test all the lines. Just hook all the hoses to the water source one at a time leaving this unit off the hoses to test for water flow to the sprinkler.You will also be looking for water leaks where you ran a hose over last summer with your zero turn mower.Then do the same to the next hose line..Start at the water source, then each hose before you connect the next hose.Shortcuts on this instal often makes the job longer.You will want to set up your sprinkler pattern after you make sure all the water flow properly.Then set up your times on this unit before you hook it to the hoses. Sit down somewhere andmake yourself comfortable while you set it up. You will not like doing this job on your knees withall the hoses attached to the unit..Now that you have checked over everything, hook the unit up to your hoses. Turn on the water source.Run the manual setting for a couple of min. After the unit shuts off, Turn the unit to auto.Your better half will think you are a genius.
