We often lose power during winter storms — and that means rain and wind when a generator is needed (usually at least 3 times each winter). Studied specs on this cover and, from reviewer comments, thought it was more practical than other ‘generic’ covers with fiddly frame-to-dome connections, and so decided to see if it would work on our Sportsman LP-only 7000 watt unit. It fits very well. As shipped, the cover kit accommodates a variety of gen frame sizes so long as the frame is tubular metal (with tubes ~ 1.5″ diameter or even a bit smaller) (Champion evidently sells adapter kits for square tubing and other variations). The instructions include a table for all installation settings to match a variety of generator sizes, which — if followed — in our case quickly produced a good, taut installation; the add-on skirt to protect the electrical panel is long enough to wrap around a corner and cover other potentially weather-vulnerable components.Good features: Cover can be quickly removed (when necessary) without fiddling with ties and snaps; clamps can be rotated on tubes to get them out of the way (if necessary) (correctly installed, they stick out at each end of the generator, but can be quickly repositioned to as not to protrude); cover, skirt and fiberglass pole ‘dome’ can be disassembled for compact storage.Because we use LP-only gens, we do not have to use a refueling port or flap, so there’s no evaluation here of that function for this cover. The cover appears to be ‘as described’ — stout enough for serious rain and even for fairly strong gusts of wind. It gets ‘4’ rating solely because of the price and a wish that it could be lower.
